It’s a new month and we’ve got a new challenge – Osteo October!!
Tuesday 20th October is World Osteoporosis Day, but we’ve decided to make a whole month of it!
This month our aim is to include a range of preventative exercises for each client that will help maintain and improve bone density.
- Weight bearing exercises to build healthy bones.
- Balance for fall prevention (yes this means the BOSU!)
- ‘Surprise Bone Loading’ to challenge your bones to consistently stay dense and strong.
Osteoporosis is a preventable disease and just like any other health issue, your bone health needs to be monitored. Participating in the right kind of exercise and getting enough Calcium and Vitamin D is great way to stay one step ahead.
Did you know? Swimming is a non-osteogenic (ability of an exercise to build bone density) form of exercise, although it provides other benefits such as cardiovascular health.
Your Challenge!
25 Calf Rises on the Balance Beam with:
-Correct ankle and foot alignment
-Correct pressure in feet on rise and lower
-Control up and down phase
-Feeling the right muscles of the foot and legs
-Keeping neutral posture from head to toe whilst performing the rise
